In Texas the largest health insur­er is plan­ning to raise its rates an aver­age of 60%, North Car­oli­na about 19%, and 44% in Ver­mont. Ore­gon has weighed in, clos­er to home, with increas­es going 10 to 29%. The last time such large increas­es were announced (we are think­ing of Anthem in Cal­i­for­nia with a pro­posed 39% increase in 2010) the result was..well, you know…what we have now – The Afford­able Care Act.
